Back to School...Goodbye Workouts!

That's usually how it goes for me! The minute I get busy, I get really good at excuses for not working out. The past week or so I've been at school setting up the room and I haven't worked out at all. I'm trying to think of ways to keep me motivated.

I was thinking about signing up for a 5k in October or November. Having a commitment like that may help me get off the couch after a long day to fit in a run. My runs over the summer have been about 2 or 2.5 miles typically. While I don't really need to train for a 5k distance-wise, it would keep me running more regularly and I can definitely improve my pace.

Over the summer I did a lot of 30 day shred workouts and really felt like I got stronger adding some weights to my routine. I definitely need to keep that up!

Here's hoping I can stay motivated during the school year! I have a later start time this year, so I would really love to try a few morning workouts each week. I've tried that before and it didn't last but hopefully I will be less exhausted this year not getting up so early!

This always cracks me up to hear, but I think it may be true:

If anyone has any tips to pass along to stay motivated, feel free to pass them along!

Getting Fit

There's been lots keeping me busy lately. Gil & I went on a diet/workout plan called Insanity. We just finished up the first week. I'm not doing the Insanity workout part...instead I'm back to doing the 30 Day Shred a couple of times a week and running on the other days. As far as the food goes, we eat 5 smaller meals throughout the day. So mostly I've been busy keeping up with preparing food with Gil and cleaning tupperware! But all in all, we both feel pretty good having eaten a lot healthier this week than we have been lately. This new diet is forcing us to eat at home for dinner, which we have been really bad about lately, so that's a good outcome already.

I bought the Nike + iPod sensor to track my runs on Nike.com and I think that will help keep me on track. Gil and I are also doing weigh-ins on Wii Fit.

So far, Gil has definitely stuck to the diet and exercising better than I have. But I have to say, I've been pretty good too. We set up a makeshift gym in the garage so that we can do our workouts out there, since our basement ceiling is too low for jumping and it's working out pretty well.

We're still thinking about getting a puppy this summer and that would increase my exercise w/more walking or running. Can't wait for that warm weather to come...
