Today we had our house inspection. The man performing the inspection was very thorough and kept us interested by making us play games like "Guess the Age of the Furnace". It was good to be back in the house again and to be able to wander around looking at everything at a leisurely pace. A lot of people asked me today and yes, I still love the house. For a house built in 1926, it has held up remarkably well. There were no major problems and just a few small things that the seller will be fixing. The garage is not in great shape, but it's nothing that we have to fix immediately.
I'm looking forward to closing on the house and moving in. It's hard to be patient. I'm excited to walk around our neighborhood and to get to know the area. During the inspection, we met our first neighbor who is listing a house with our Realtor...so I guess she won't be a neighbor for long!
Wandering around the house today made me realize that I need to get some decorating books! I love a new project and this house will definitely be one for me. Not that we're going to get all new stuff right away, but our apartment furniture and accessories don't seem to "go" with this house. I think our current IKEA living room will end up taking residence in the basement, making way for a new couch in the upstairs living room. I also foresee many trips to Bed, Bath, and Beyond in our future, as we work on stocking 3 bathrooms instead of just 1. Lots to do...June 24th is marked on my calendar!!
I'm welcoming any advice about what to do when moving into your first home!
